Dashboard Filters

Prolaborate introduces dashboard filtering, enabling users to dynamically adjust the entire dashboard content based on key properties. When applied, filters automatically update all charts and report widgets within a single dashboard, ensuring a consistent and focused analysis of architectural models.

Filters can be saved with dashboards for quick access to preferred views. Currently, only one filter can be applied at a time, allowing precise control over data visualization.

Prerequisites

  1. Prolaborate version should be 5.5.0 and above.
  1. Charts and reports configured in the dashboard must share the same stereotype.
  1. Modeling Language for that stereotype should be present and active.

How to Enable Dashboard Filters?

Filters are automatically enabled on dashboards when the following conditions are met:

  1. Create a dashboard with one or more charts and reports.
  1. Ensure that all charts and reports in the dashboard share the same stereotype, filtered and configured using the designer.
  1. When configuring a hierarchical chart, ensure that the last level is filtered by the specific stereotype.

How to Apply Filters on Dashboard?

If the above conditions are met, the Add Filter button will be visible in the dashboard along with the stereotype name.

Click Add Filter and select the desired property, set the condition, choose values and click Apply.

Once applied, the filter will dynamically update all charts and reports in the dashboard. The selected filters will also be retained when users open detailed views of charts and reports.

Note:

  • When applying the filter, only the properties specified in the MDG Profile that are relevant to users will be displayed.
  • The filter will include only custom properties of type Enum, Boolean, and Date, along with basic properties such as Name and Author.

How to Apply Filters on Charts?

Filters applied on the dashboard will be retained automatically upon open the detailed reports page of charts or reports.

After applying the filters in the dashboard, click on a section of the chart to open its detailed reports view. The filters applied in the dashboard will be retained.

By clicking on the Edit icon, users can change and apply new filters in the detailed reports page for that particular chart.

Note:

  • Changes made to the filter in the detailed reports page for individual charts or reports cannot be saved.

How to Save Filters?

After applying a filter, click Save.

The filter will now be automatically applied whenever a user opens the dashboard.

Note:

  • Only admins or users with dashboard access can save filters.

How to Share a Filtered Dashboard?

Users can apply filters and share the filtered dashboard with external stakeholders via a public or private URL.

Apply the desired filters and click Share. Copy the generated public or private short URL.

Users accessing the shared URL will see the filtered dashboard view. The same can be done for individual charts and reports from the detailed reports page.
