Access Journal entries added by modelers 

Introduced in Prolaborate V5.4.0, this feature enhances collaboration by displaying the Journal entries created for an artifact or a diagram in Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect. Viewing journal entries in Prolaborate allows stakeholders and team members to easily access important decisions without navigating to Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect.

Users can only view journal entries in Prolaborate. To edit or add an entry, one must switch to Enterprise Architect to perform the action. To know more about such limitations, refer to the section below. 

How to enable Journal Entries in Prolaborate?

To display the Journals section in the properties window for a repository in Prolaborate, the toggle Journals under EA Collaboration Settings must be switched to Show in the Repository Settings.

Click on Menu > Repository Settings to access the settings. The user must be an admin or part of a user group with access to Repository Settings to make this change.

Note: The settings must be enabled for each repository to read journals added to artifacts and diagrams in Enterprise Architect.

How to view Journal Entries of an Artifact? 

A new section has been introduced in the Properties window where the Journal entries for an element, diagram, or package made in Enterprise Architect are displayed in Prolaborate.

To view the Journal entries, open the Properties window and select Journals from the dropdown.

The image below shows the journal entries for a diagram (Customer Management System) in Prolaborate. Prolaborate always displays the current date of a journal entry as “Today.” 

The image below shows the journal entries of a diagram (Customer Management System) in Enterprise Architect.

Note: Users will only be able to view journals added from Enterprise Architect in Prolaborate. To edit an entry, users must switch to Enterprise Architect.

How to add or edit Journal entries?

To add or edit the Journal entries, open the Discuss & Review window in Enterprise Architect and choose the Journals section. Click on a diagram or artifact to add or view journal entries.

View Journal from Model Versions

If Versions Explorer is enabled, Journal entries will be shown from the respective configured model. Opening the Properties window of an artifact or a diagram will display the entries from that model state.
