Roll back the Installation
Can I roll back to a previous version of Prolaborate and PCS?
If necessary, it is possible to roll back to a previous version of Prolaborate and Pro Cloud Server (PCS). However, this is only feasible if proper backups are taken before performing the upgrade.
To ensure a successful rollback, we strongly recommend the following pre-upgrade steps:
Pre-Upgrade Checklist (Mandatory)
Before upgrading, back up the following:
- Prolaborate Database – Follow the Prolaborate Database Backup Guide for step-by-step instructions.
- Prolaborate and PCS Installation Folders – Copy the installation folders to a safe location (e.g., an external drive or secure cloud storage).
Rollback Steps – Prolaborate
Step 1: Uninstall the current Prolaborate installation from your system. Delete the old Prolaborate installation folder (e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\Prolaborate).
Step 2: Create a new Prolaborate database. Restore the previously backed-up database into this latest instance.
Step 3: Prepare the Installation Directory by creating a new folder for Prolaborate with the same name as the original installation folder previously used.
Step 4: Reinstall the Previous Version
- Launch the installer for the previous Prolaborate version.
- Click Change in the Destination Folder screen and select the folder created in Step 3.
- On the Database Schema screen, select Skip this step.
- Enter the restored database credentials (from Step 2).
- Complete the installation process.
Step 5: Open Task Manager, locate the Prolaborate service, and stop it.
Step 6: Restore the Old Prolaborate Folder. Copy the backup of the original Prolaborate folder (taken before the upgrade) into the new Prolaborate installation directory.
Step 7: After restoring the files, restart the Prolaborate service from Task Manager or Services.
Rollback Steps – Pro Cloud Server (PCS)
Step 1: Uninstall the New PCS Version. If the new version causes issues, uninstall PCS — but do not delete the PCS folder.
Step 2: Reinstall the Previous PCS Version. Run the installer for the previous PCS version and install it in the same folder.
Step 3: Restore License if your license is not automatically detected after reinstallation:
- Copy the license file from your backup folder.
- Replace it in the live folder at the following path: C:\Program Files\Sparx Systems\Pro Cloud Server\Service\Licenses.
