How to do Mailer configuration with Gmail Server?
Configuring a mailer with a Gmail server allows applications to send emails seamlessly using Gmail’s SMTP service. This step-by-step guide provides detailed instructions on setting up the mailer configuration in Prolaborate using Gmail’s SMTP service.
Prerequisites
The user must be an administrator to configure Mailer in Prolaborate.
How to configure Mailer in Prolaborate?
Log in to Prolaborate using your admin credentials.
Once logged in, go to the Menu and select Mailer Configuration under Portal Settings.

In the Mailer Configuration page, select the SMTP Configuration and fill in the details in the respective fields.
- Server: smtp.gmail.com
- Port: 587
- Encryption Type: TLS
- Format: HTML
- Authentication Type: Base64
- User ID: Enter your Gmail ID
- Password: Enter the password generated from the Google account. Click here to know more.
- From Address: Enter the email address from which you wish to receive email from

Click Test Connection to ensure the mailer is working properly.
Once the test connection is successful, a test email will be triggered to the specified User ID in the ‘From Address’.
Verify that the test email is received successfully.
Generate the password from Google Account
Open a browser and open your Gmail account. Click on your profile icon and select Manage your Google Account.
On the Google Account management page, click on Security.
Under Security, locate and choose 2-Step Verification.
Turn in ON, if not done already, and validate your account.

Scroll down to the bottom of the 2-Step Verification page and click on App password.
On the App password page, create a new application for Prolaborate to generate the password.
Once the password is generated, copy it.
